Turnbull High School pupils land four USA sports scholarships
Sixth-year Turnbull High School golf ace Megan Docherty has been given the chance of a fully-paid golf scholarship with University of Tennessee Chattanooga.
And also poised to go transatlantic in 2022, on partially-funded football scholarships and with universities still to be confirmed, are S5 pupils Lewis Macleod, Adam Gribben and Michael Mallon.

Hide AdMegan took up the game aged seven at Hogganfield Loch, playing on the Lethamhill course.
Currently playing with Bishopbriggs Golf Club, she has travelled to England, Spain and Italy to play in tournaments and has won many competitions, including the SGF Foundation Vase and Junior Tour. She is also a member of the Scotland national squad and the Scottish schoolgirl squad.
Of her opportunity in the US, she said: “I feel excited and a bit nervous. I don't think it will hit me until I am there.
“It will be a really good experience, but I will miss my friends and family back home."

Hide AdLewis started playing football when he was four years old and currently plays for ED (East Dunbartonshire) and Rossvale. In 2018, he was part of a team which travelled to the Dutch capital and won the Amsterdam Cup.
Adam took up football when he was five and plays at West Park, with whom he won both the league and the league cup in 2018-2019.
His scholarship is with the Future Pro USA organisation, as is fellow pupil Michael’s.
He also played with EDFC and West Park, as well as Partick Thistle and, currently, Rossvale under-20s.

Hide AdHe said: “Due to Covid, the earliest it looks like I’ll be going over will be January but more likely it will be next August.
“I’m really looking forward to going and think it’ll be really exciting no matter where in America I end up going.”
