Fifteen-year-old Laura, who lives in Lesmahagow, missed most of last season after breaking her hip in a riding accident.

However, that didn’t deter her enthusiasm for riding and she qualified for the National Championships thanks to a strong showing at the Pony Club Eventing Qualifiers where she competed against the very best young talent from across the UK and Ireland.

Laura, together with her pony Killy Cooly, had to ride in three disciplines .

These were dressage where the competitors need to show control as they ride a set pattern of movements, a round of show jumps, finishing off with a course of cross country jumps.

In the end, Lanark & Upperward Pony Club member Laura produced a strong showing and finished 13th at the Championships.
