International duty

A PAIR of Clydesdale cricketers are in the Scotland squad which flew out last week to the United Arab Emirates to prepare for key international fixtures against Afghanistan next week.

Majid Haq, this year’s captain at Titwood and an established off-spin all-rounder in the national squad, was joined for the tour by 21-year-old Clydesdale fast bowler Safyaan Sharif, whose 2012 international season was curtailed by injury.

In their first practice match before facing Afghanistan in two Twenty20 games, the Scots shook off their winter cobwebs, losing narrowly to a local Dubai team.
