Morton wasted a great chance to break the deadlock when a cross from the left found Michael Ledger in the centre but he shot straight at Kelly.

Gallagher then headed against the bar from McGinley’s long free-kick but the defender was given offside in any case.

We’re into 30 minutes of extra time.

The chance of the game so far came eight minutes into extra time when substitute Jake Hastie played Long clean through but he shot against the outside of the right post.

Another chance came for Motherwell when Allan Campbell played Hastie through but he shot wide under pressure.

McGinley heads wide

Hastie’s corner in extra time first half stoppage time was headed off target by McGinley.

Still 0-0 at Fir Park.

The Steelmen survived a major scare on 114 minutes as a looping header from a McGuffie cross floated wide.

Hastie goes down/Lawless chance

Hastie had a penalty appeal turned down by referee Willie Collum after going down in the box, before Lawless met a McGinley header but his effort was turned wide by keeper Aidan McAdams.

Allan Campbell off injured
