Clydesdale motorsport legend Robbie Allan stunned to hear about Dakar Rally death

DAKAR Rally legend Robbie Allan was stunned to hear about the death of Argentine motorcyclist Jorge Boero on day one of this year’s race.

Robbie (70), of Boghead, defied the odds to complete more than half of the highly dangerous 5000-mile Dakar Rally course on his Honda motorbike as a 65-year-old back in 2007. He suffered technical problems and quit after a ferocious sandstorm hit one of the African stages and set off his asthma.
