Constable Stuart Cairns from Kirkintilloch police Office, said: “The warm weather looks set to continue and we know that’s when people want to cool off – if you do fancy a swim then please do so safely and be sensible around waterways.

“Playing near to water can be hazardous where banks can be steep or slippery – ensure everyone, especially children, stay SAFE – (Stay Away From the Edge).

“Remember water temperature will be colder and can send the body into shock.”

If you see someone in distress, do not jump in to help – call for help and dial 999 in an emergency. If you have a ball, throw it into the water to help keep them buoyant.
