Eastwood leisure centre and theatre plans move forward
As part of the initial steps in the planning process, a formal consultation has begun to allow residents to have input into the final design.
All comments received as part of this process will be considered before a full planning application is submitted later this year.

It is currently planned that the centre could include a 50m pool, 20m training pool, family fun pool with flume, six-court games hall, large gym area and four fitness studios.
Work is expected to begin in early 2022, with the new building being constructed at a site adjacent to the current facility. This will allow it to continue operating during the construction period, ensuring no major disruption to leisure provision until the new facility opens in 2024.
A dedicated consultation portal – www.eastwoodleisure.co.uk – is live, which allows comments to be submitted until June 4.

East Renfrewshire Council Leader Tony Buchanan said: “This is a significant milestone in our plans to deliver vastly improved leisure and culture facilities in Eastwood. We want to provide the very best facilities for our residents, so it’s important that we hear directly from our communities what they would like to see in this new facility, to help shape the final proposal which is put forward for planning permission.”
