Niamh looking forward to her big day

LANIMER Queen Niamh Shanks is looking forward to her week in the spotlight.

Twelve-year-old Niamh, who attends Lanark Grammar School, will be officially crowned 2012 Lanimer Queen by Joy Reilly on Thursday.

But that’s not been the only big event of her week because as well as the numerous Lanimer events Niamh, last year’s Queen Madeleine Millar and 1952 Queen Elizabeth Anderson appeared on ITV1 breakfast show Daybreak earlier in the week as part of the Jubilee celebrations.

Niamh was one of dozens of Lanimer principals and dancers gathered at the Cross at 6am on Monday, for various live appearances on the television show.

Niamh said: “I’m really looking forward to the whole week and my two best friends Hannah and Lauren are looking forward to it as well.

Lauren Scott and Hannah Nicolson will be Niamh’s chief maids for the celebrations.

“The part that I am most looking forward to is Lanimer Day itself,” she said.
