Lanark tribute tonight to the Rev Dan Gafvert

The Rev Dan Gafvert of Christ Church in Lanark has died, only hours after leading the service to Kirk Lanark’s Lord Cornet-elect at the start of Lanimer Week.

The news has shocked the town where he made his life.

Tribute will be paid to him tonight, at Lanark Cross before the Shifting of the Standard ceremony.

Ironically, for his sermon yesterday Dan, who was Chaplain to the Lord Cornets Club, spoke about taking good care of what people had, saying that taking care in the good times would help us through the difficult times which were always ahead.

The tribute tonight is being organised by the Lanimer chairman, the president of the Lord Cornets’ Club and Rev Bryan Kerr.
