Full marks for turning up

Pearce Cannon, age 11, graduates from St Fillan’s primary school with a clean slate for attendance, having completed his primary school for seven years without taking a day off.

Proud mum Clare said: “I think this is an amazing achievement and it’s good for him to get the recognition he deserves.”

His achievement was no coincidence, though. After managing full attendance of six years, he set it as his goal this year to make it to the last day without being off.

Clare added: “He managed to dodge viruses, stomach bugs and even chicken pox that were going around the school.”

Pearce has set the bar for his younger siblings, being the third youngest of six.

He was awarded a Certificate of Perfect Attendance from Glasgow City Council.
