Police charge youngster after Mossend chapel house comes under attack by thugs
Police have confirmed that a teenager has been taken home to his family and charged and cautioned before them in connection with an incident highlighted in this newspaper last week.
We told how the chapel house at Mossend’s Holy Family parish had been targeted by groups of young trespassers who had smashed the front windows, shouting abuse and kicking at doors.
The incident caused shockwaves on Facebook - after the young staff at the Sancta Familia media company which is based in the parish spoke up online, calling for a zero-tolerance attitude towards the disorder.
It was stressed too that the parish would have to meet the cost of the damage at an already difficult time.
Police stepped up patrols and revealed that a young male has been dealt with following an incident last Thursday (March 4)
A spokesperson for Motherwell Diocese said: “This matter is being dealt with by the Police and the additional patrols in the area are welcomed.”
