Officers launch appeal for witnesses to train assault on August 15.

British Transport police officers investigating an assault on a local train to Westerton are today appealing for witnesses to make themselves known and come forward.

The historic incident took place on August 15 at around 4.40pm, when three teenage girls assaulted a female who was travelling alone on a train from Milngavie to Westerton Station.

The girls are known to have subsequently left the train at Westerton when it stopped.

The victim is believed to have sustained abrasions to the facial area, however she has still not reported the assault to police.

Officers are now appealing for the victim, or anyone with any information whatsoever, to get in touch with investigating officers to assist them with the investigation.
