Car driver dies after crash with a lorry

A man has died and another is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash involving a car and a lorry.

The collision happened on the B7066 Glasgow/Edinburgh Road near Newhouse just before 3pm yesterday (Tuesday).

The 29-year old man driving the car died following the crash, Police Scotland said.

His 23-year-old passenger was taken to Wishaw General Hospital, where staff described his condition as serious.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact officers in Motherwell on the 101 number.
