BID volunteers clean up for Clarkston

The I Love Clarkston campaign braved patches of rain on Saturday for a seasonal clean up.

The event was one of the latest efforts from the Clarkston BID (Business Improvement District) team to improve the area — including recent changes to store facades and vinyls put up across the Main Street’s empty shop units.

Saturday’s volunteers donated their time to collect over 60 bags of rubbish from the pavements and alleyways of Clarkston.

A BID respresentative told The Extra: “We’d like to say thank you to all those who volunteered.

“Although there was some drizzle on the day, it certainly didn’t dampen moods — and the volunteers were more than ready to get their hands dirty.

“You may have seen us dressed in our high-visibility vests — and the spirit of goodwill was certainly present on the streets of Clarkston, as one resident bought doughnuts to share among the group, which were very well received (and all boxes disposed of responsibly , of course!)”

The group is planning a similar event following the summer months.
