Italian success for Lanark composer Janet Beat

LANARK composer Janet Beat has become the first Scottish composer to have work performed by Italy’s leading chamber orchestra.

Janet, an Honorary Research Fellow at Glasgow University, took to the stage with the I Solisti Veneti orchestra under their internationally acclaimed founder and conductor, Claudio Scimone.

Janet’s composition, entitled Nocturne - The Cry of the Peacocks, received its world premiere at the Palladio Auditorium in Padua.

And it was an experience that Janet (75) will never forget.
