London link lined up for station in Cumbernauld
Grand Union Trains has confirmed that it has selected Cumbernauld as being just one of 12 towns and cities to be included in the ambitious new route.
The service will then carry on to Whifflet before making its way south of the border via Motherwell and Lockerbie.

It is hoped that four services will be operated per day. Electric trains will be utilised travelling at speeds of up to 125 miles per hour with seats guaranteed and free WiFi on board.
The company says it has already started working with North Lanarkshire Council and Scotrail to get the project on track as an ‘upgrade’ to the existing station will be required to accommodate the new set-up.
David Prescott, Grand Union’s Director for Marketing and Development, said that the suitability of the location was very clear to the company.

“And this is without having to change trains or go into Glasgow or Edinburgh.
“We are seeking the required approvals to run the service.
“So we hope to be running trains in early 2022.”
