Kirkintilloch bakery is customers’ choice in top contest
Bayne’s, based at Cowgate, was a winner in the Scottish Baker of the Year Customer Choice awards - with nearly 800 votes from its customers.
The formal 2020 search for the Scottish Baker of Year was postponed – but more than 14,000 bakery customers in Scotland were still able to vote for their favourite baker.

Hide AdThe local baker tasted success in the Retail Craft Bakeries category.
John Bayne, of Bayne’s, said: “After a challenging few months it is wonderful to know that so many of our customers rate us their favourite Retail Bakery.
“We are really touched, so thanks to everyone who took the time to vote for us. We are looking forward to continuing to serve our community with freshly baked, quality produce for many more years to come.”
Alasdair Smith of Scottish Bakers, organisers of the competition, said: “We are delighted to have been able to give the public a say in 2020 with our new Customer Choice awards.

Scottish Bakers ambassador and star baker, Mich Turner MBE, said: “It’s not just for our daily bread that we rely on our local bakers. Who doesn’t love a tasty treat, perfect pie or super sausage roll?”
