Cost of living advice at events in Motherwell and Wishaw

With the cost of living top of everyone’s agenda MSP Clare Adamson is inviting the public to events which have been specially set up to help those concerned with rising household bills.

SNP MSP Clare Adamson is to host two cost of living advice events to help constituents in Motherwell and Wishaw.

Experts and community organisations will be on hand to talk to residents about finances and available support in response to increasing pressure on the cost of living.

The events, which will be co-hosted with fellow SNP Parliamentarian Marion Fellows MP, will take place on Friday September 9 at LAMH Wellbeing Centre and Café, Wishaw, and then September 30 in the Craig Suite, Dalziel Building, Motherwell.

Both events will run on a drop-in basis from 10.30am to 2pm and everyone is welcome to attend.

What to expect

Attendees will be able get advice on topics including energy costs, benefit entitlements, personal finances, and returning to work, as well as local organisations ranging from employment services to animal charities.

Organisations taking part include the Scottish Social Security, Citizens’ Advice Bureau, SSPCA, Wishaw and Motherwell Credit Unions, Christians Against Poverty, Warmer Homes Scotland, CLD Bus Pass Applications and local food banks as well as Routes to Work and Remploy to give earnings and employability advice.

Among the local groups taking part are Dallies Community Larder, Uniform Exchange, Lanarkshire Baby Bank, LAMH and Miracle Foundation to share how their vital work can assist residents.

Ms Adamson and Ms Fellows will be in attendance to speak to constituents, offer support, and signpost to advice.

Clare Adamson MSP for Motherwell and Wishaw, said: "Constituents are contacting us afraid of what lies ahead. Marion and I are determined to help people across Motherwell and Wishaw get the support they need.

“The organisations we have invited were selected to cover a range of problems that people might be facing as the cost of living crisis continues.

“Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend; these events are for our entire community.

“Things are tough right now and people are facing huge pressures – but there are people and organisations that want to help. Please come along and see what support might be available.”
