A slave-turned-gladiator finds himself in a race against time to save his true love in Pompeii out now at the Showcase in Bargeddie.

Set in 79 AD, Pompeii tells the epic story of Milo (Kit Harington), once a slave, but now an invincible gladiator.

However, his world is thrown into turmoil when finds out his love Cassia (Emily Browning), the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant,has been unwillingly betrothed to a corrupt Roman senator named Corvus (Kiefer Sutherland).

As Mount Vesuvius erupts in a torrent of blazing lava, Milo must fight his way out of the arena in order to save his beloved as the once magnificent Pompeii crumbles around him.

Sherlock Holmes writer Michael Robert Johnson teams up with husband and wife Lee and Janet Scott Batchler for their first movie screenplay directed by action veteran Paul W S Anderson.

Pompeii is rated 12A and runs 105 minutes.
