Motherwell Shopping Centre joined forces with TCA (Town Centre Activities) Local, on Thursday as it held its annual Christmas lights switch-on.

Helping to illuminate proceedings on the day were children from nearby Windmill Nursery who were invited to join North Lanarkshire provost Jim Robertson, acting centre manager Geraldine El Masrour, and of course Santa Claus on stage outside the Wilkinsons store.

The nursery was presented with a £200 Argos gift card as the children sang their favourite Christmas carols and each child on stage received a gift bag from Santa

The event was compered by TV presenter Josie Smith and Motherwell Shopping Centre was delighted by the huge turn out as many customers joined in the festive cheer with a sing-along led by former The Voice contestant Barbara Bryceland.

Just as the lights were switched on the fun ended with a mass recital of I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas as ‘snow’ fell from the sky.
