A legendary showman who blazed a trail across Scotland with his Wild West Circus visited Motherwell on July 28, 1904 - and was a huge success, as in dozens of British towns.
But while Glasgow, Inverness and many other places have memorabilia of Buffalo Bill Cody’s tour, Motherwell Heritage Society hasn’t so far managed to trace any posters or photographs.
Chairman Bill Clark said: “I know it’s a long shot, but somewhere in Motherwell there might just be some memento of the day the wild west circus - complete with 200 horses and 100 real Sioux Indians - rode into town.”
A printer in Uddingston produced posters for an advertising blitz of Motherwell before the show.
