Apes and humans are brought to the brink of war in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, out now at the Showcase in Bargeddie.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar (Andy Serkis) is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier.
They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
A sequel to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, New Yorker Matt Reeves takes over directoral duties from Brit Rupert Wyatt.
Serkis returns to reprise his role of Caesar, this time joined by Gary Oldman as Dreyfus, the leader of the surviving humans.
The movie also stars Jason Clarke, Keri Russell on the human side and Judy Greer and Toby Kebbell among the apes.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is rated 12A and runs 130 minutes.
