Motherwell X-Factor hero Nicholas McDonald is reckoned set to clinch a record deal with top music label RCA - and expects to see his record on the streets in less than eight weeks.
The news will delight his thousands of local fans, who have given him full support by attending recent concerts in Glasgow (December 29) and Hamilton (January 4).
RCA still hadn’t confirmed a deal on Friday, but said a press officer would be available to comment early next week.
Meanwhile it’s understood Nicholas and his family advisers are ironing out the specific details of a formal agreement.
On Thursday the singer tweeted his tens of thousands of fans: “I am so happy to tell all that I’m now signed to RCA Records and my album will be out in eight weeks’ time.”
At his recent Glasgow gig Nicholas told Motherwell Times/Bellshill Speaker he aimed to gain maximum exposure in the new year
“to keep the momentum going” following his dramatic appearance in the X-Factor final.
He aimed to follow through with a record deal as soon as possible, if the right agreement could be reached with a leading label - and appears to have succeeded.
Meanwhile he’s also gearing up to appear in the forthcoming X-Factor live tour, with dates at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.
The dates are February 29 at 7.30pm and March 1 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, with tickets priced £38.
