A Lego mini-figure is accidentally recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant in The Lego Movie, released on Friday at the Showcase in Bargeddie.

In the Lego universe, a construction worker named Emmet is mistaken as being the Special and with the help of an old wizard named Vitruvius, a tough young woman named Wyldstyle, Batman, Uni-Kitty, Benny, and a pirate named Metalbeard, sets forth to defeat the evil Lord Business.

Business is bent on destroying the Lego universe on Taco Tuesday and recreating it as he sees fit by glueing it together, meaning Emmet will have to unlearn everything he saw in the instructions and discover the power of imagination.

Written and directed by Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ Phil Lord and Chris Miller, they bring together voice talent including Will Ferrell (Lord Business), Will Arnett (Batman) and Morgan Freeman (Vitruvius).

The Lego movie is rated U and runs 100 minutes.
