Japanese legend Ultimo Dragon makes his Scottish debut on Saturday as the Scottish Wrestling Alliance invades Motherwell Concert Hall.
The former WCW and WWE star teams with high-flying duo Robbie Solar and Tornado to take on Mark Coffey, Lewis Girvan and Christopher Saynt at Battlezone 2013.
Promoter John Graham believes SWA tag team champions Solar and Tornado can learn a lot from the veteran.
He said: “Ultimo Dragon is an original, he’s in good shape and can still go so thanks to our links with Zero 1 we’re delighted to have him over.
“Tornado and Solar are brilliant and getting better every day, they’re two of our top prospects and hopefully teaming up with Dragon will give them an extra push.”
John was forced to retire from the ring earlier this year following defeat to Mikey Whiplash on a card at Braidhurst High, but says due to injury the time was right.
He said: “I had hoped to continue in the ring for as long as possible, but injuries just caught up with me.
“The last match at Braidhurst I could hardly walk at the start of the match, never mind the end so it came round quicker than I had hoped.
“I do miss it and even more so with the show being in Motherwell however, I can organise and promote to put on a good show and making people happy that way is my job now.”
Also on the Battlezone card is former WWE developmental talent Rampage Brown, Scottish champion Mikey Whiplash takes on Laird of the Ring champion Jackie Polo, and there is the 30-man Battlezone match itself.
Doors open at 6.30pm and individual admission is £15 (ringside), £12 (general admission), £35 (family) and £50 (family ringside with meet and greet).
