The Kicks

Any musician worth their salt will have a few cover versions up their sleeve to strum out as a party trick every now and again.

But an encyclopedic repertoire that ranges from ABBA to Zeppelin is pretty impressive - and it belongs to The Kicks.

Hailing from Bellshill and Viewpark, the trio - singer and guitarist John McIntyre, bassist Steve Adamson and drummer Neil MacDougall - have been packing out dance floors since forming three years ago.

As well as being considered one of the country’s best wedding bands, the lads gig up and down the country, and have a weekly residency at Box on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street.

Crowds and parties are impressed with what they hear, with one reviewer raving, ‘You want it, they’ll play it - and I guarantee it’ll blow the original out the water’.

Appearing to be something of human jukeboxes, The Kicks can perform almost any request on a whim.

Classics from the likes of Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd and Elvis are played alongside more contemporary numbers from Lady Gaga, Pharrell Williams, Ellie Goulding , Adele and Jessie J.

The lads even have their own take on the biggest hit of 2015 so far, Uptown Funk.

And if you fancy checking them out, you’ll find The Kicks at Maggie Mays in the city on March 6 and 20, followed by an appearance at The Soul Suite in the Commercial Hotel in Wishaw on April 4.

The trio have also lined up dates for Motherwell Concert Hall in December.
