A policeman springs into action to tackle paramilitary invaders in White House Down, out now at the Showcase in Bargeddie.

Capitol policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting the President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx).

Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group.

Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter and the country.

Director Roland Emmerich has developed something of a reputation for destroying the White House, first in 1996’s Independence Day and then in the disaster movie 2012, so as the title of the film may suggest expect him to complete his hat-trick.

White House Down runs for 131 minutes and is rated 12A.
