A vintage fair celebrating the music and style of the 1950s and 60s is taking place in Bellshill on Saturday.

Organisers are expecting hundreds of visitors to descend on The Orb, many arriving on scooters that were an iconic image of the era.

The fair is being put together by the Magic Roundabout Social Club which was set up at The Orb in Hamilton Road a year ago. A similar event was held in September and went down well.

The club meets every Thursday and Sunday to celebrate musical styles including motown and northern soul. Dance classes attract a wide range of ages, from teenagers to sprightly pensioners.

Saturday’s event starts at 1pm and is open to all, including families. Visitors can reminisce at record and clothing stalls upstairs in the pub’s function suite while prizes will be awarded to the best turned out scooters.

The organisers say the music and fashion they celebrate are enjoying a revival and interst is such that visitors are expected from many parts of Britain.

The afternoon event will be followed in the evening by a sellout function at the same venue.
