Three artists have come together for a night of music and images celebrating Bellshill.

Kris Boyle, Martin John Henry and John Farrell all grew up in the town and have each created work for ‘Home is Somewhere Else’, a one-night exhibition at the Old Hairdressers in Glasgow city centre.

It takes place on Wednesday, October 8, from 6pm and also features performances from Lanarkshire bands including Babygod, Sluts of Trust and Memory Man.

Kris’s ‘Home is Here’ project includes photographs of bands like BMX Bandits and Teenage Fanclub who burst on to the scene in the 1980s with what legendary DJ John Peel described as ‘the Bellshill Beat’.

John’s work explores the post-industrial legacy of Lanarkshire and the historic and cultural significance of his hometown.

Martin John is the frontman of De Rosa and a graduate of Glasgow School of Art’s fine art photography department. His photos feature spaces that are neglected or in various stages of development.
