MOTHERWELL last night secured their place in next season’s Champions League qualifiers.
The Fir Parkers are confirmed in third place in the SPL after Dundee United were hammered 5-0 by Rangers at Ibrox.
The result means Stuart McCall’s men are eight points ahead of the Taysiders with only two games to play and cannot be caught.
’Well had strengthened their position with a 1-0 win over Hearts at Tynecastle on Tuesday night, Michael Higdon scoring the only goal.
Second-placed Rangers are ineligible for European competition next season because of their financial problems and now ’Well fans can look forward to one of Europe’s big names visiting Fir Park in July.
The draw is some way off but Ukraine’s Dynamo Kiev and Holland’s Feyenoord are just two of their possible opponents.
