JUNIOR sides Thorniewood United and Bellshill Athletic will once again have one eye on the weather as they prepare for important league matches this Saturday.

Thorniewood are due to travel to Cumbernauld United in a Super League First Division encounter while Bellshill are down to play at home to St Anthony’s in a Central League First Division clash.

Both sides only played twice since the end of November and were once again left idle last week when their Euroscot Engineering Central League Cup ties were called off.

Thorniewood remain second bottom of the table but have between four and eight games in hand over every other side in the league.

Saturday’s opponents Cumbernauld are in fifth place and won 2-1 when the teams met at Robertson Park in August.

Bellshill are also battling to stay up and are fourth bottom of the Central League First Division standings, while St Anthony’s are second top and going for promotion.

Both matches between the sides last season ended in draws - 1-1 at St Anthony’s and 0-0 at Fullarton Park in the final match of the season, a result which ensured both sides were able to avoid relegation.

There were no winners in last week’s Bellshill Athletic lottery. This week’s prize will again be £2,000.
