UDDINGSTON Hockey Club continued its youth development programme over the Easter holidays by running a four-day camp at Uddingston Grammar Sport Centre.
It formed part of the club’s 2013 camp programme with camps also being run throughout the summer and October holidays.
Sessions open to boys and girls from five to 16 years old ran last week, with around 25 youngsters attending each day.
Camps are orgnised in conjunction with Uddingston Sport Hub and are open to any of the current 70 youth players who attend the Thursday club coaching sessions and all involved in the in-school coaching programme.
The schools programme has been running since August 2011 and has grown to 10 primary schools and three secondary schools from North and South Lanarkshire and the east end of Glasgow who run after-school clubs.
The 10 primary school clubs take part in monthly inter-school league matches with a view to building a long term legacy of hockey clubs in all 13 schools.
The overall hockey youth programme is supported by Uddingston Sport Hub, Communities 2014, Awards for All, Sports Match and Sportscotland.
The club’s David Goodfellow said: “Uddingston Hockey Club’s development programme involves continuing to grow and develop the after school clubs and give all players a pathway to their own club coaching and junior/senior ladies and gents teams with the view we grow numbers taking part in hockey at all levels.”
