‘Electric’ Vikki Horn is aiming to add some spark to the third Fight Club card next month when she swaps ringside for being in the ring.

The Holytown model will be recognisable to the Fight Club audience as one of the ring girls at the last two events in the Alona Hotel.

However, she is now ready to show she is more than just a pretty face as she swaps her high heels for boxing gloves.

Horn said: “I have done boxing training for the last seven or eight years and have had a couple of exhibition fights so I really enjoy it.

“Had they been scoring contests I feel I would have won the two exhibitions and having joined Fighting Scots Gym in Mossend at the start of the year I am looking forward to making my competitive debut.”

Horn has been a Mayhem Babe for more than three years doing a variety of promotional work, but isn’t worried about risking her looks.

She said: “Having been in and around the sport for years I am well aware of the risks, but that doesn’t worry me, I’ll just need to make sure I keep my hands up so my face doesn’t get damaged.

“I had hoped maybe I could get some ring boys for my fight, but it’s hard persuading guys to put on a pair of high heels, so I will just stick with my fellow Mayhem girls and they are all really excited to see me in action.”

On the last Fight Club card Uddingston’s Christine Brown suffered a shoulder injury, but Horn says that doesn’t put her off.

She said: “It was unfortunate that Christine got injured, but it is something that could have happened to anyone.

“I’m not sure what happened, she may have just mistimed a punch and over stretched, which is a shame as she looked really good up to then and I’m sure she would have won the fight.”

At the age of 27 Horn isn’t sure how she sees her future progressing in the ring.

She said: “I would like to gain my coaching qualifications in the sport, but for now I am happy to just go with the flow and see what happens.”

Fight Club 3 ‘Sweet Science’ is at the Alona Hotel in Strathclyde Park on Friday, September 12, at 7pm, with tickets costing from £40.
