Eight swimmers from Clyde Valley Beavers Disabled Sports Club enjoyed great success at the Special Olympics in Bath as part of the Scotland West Swim Team.
In the individual events Lindsey Fleming won gold in the 25m freestyle, while silver was achieved by Lauren Gilfillan in the 100m freestyle, Gordon Frew in the 100m backcrawl and Saffron Croly in the 50m freestyle.
Saffron also grabbed bronze in the 50m breaststroke. Sarah Dunsmore rounded off the solo medals with bronze in the 50m backcrawl and 100m freestyle.
Sam Francis was denied gold in unfortunate circumstances as he smashed his personal best by eight seconds to win the 50m butterfly, but was disqualified for going too fast. However, there was better news as he helped his 4x50m medley relay team to gold, as did Sarah Dunsmore in the women’s event.
Saffron Croly, Lauren Gilfillan and Lynsey MacFarlane won gold 4x50m freestyle relay as did James Dewar in the men’s race, while Gordon Frew won bronze in the freestyle relay.
