Ravenscraig Gymnasts show mettle

Members of the Dynamic Gymnastics Academy which operates in the Ravenscraig Regional Sports facility have been selected for national level competitions.

Eight-year-old Taylor Richardson and Millie McConville have been selected for the Regional Advanced Squad and are currently training on an elite pathway and achieving the highest standards for their age group.

Millie Tipping (9), Erin Meechan (7) and Rachel Quinn (8) have been selected for the Development Squad, identifying them as gymnasts showing potential to perform at a elite and national level which has pleased their coach Sarah Scott.

All the girls have been showing their skills at other competitions.

Millie Tipping recently took part in the Scottish development competition at Duloch Sports Centre in Dunfermlin, gaining second place overall with first place in the beam and third on floor exercise. Millie is coached by Julie Graham.

Members of the Motherwell club also had success in the British Gymnastics Grades competition in Perth. Lucy Barclay, Millie Tipping and Luisa Greenhorn passed Grade 13 and Luisa was placed first overall on the beam. The girls’ coaches Micheala Motty and Alexis Mackintosh were delighted with their performances.

Mia Richardson, Emma McConville, Kayla Muir and Abbie Nicholl successfully passed the grade 12 competition with Abbie Nicholl passing with distinction. These girls are coached by Alexis Mackintosh.

These successes have been earned with hard work and dedication by the girls and their coaches.

Dynamic Academy has been running for three and a half years with head coach Julie Graham and Sarah Scott. The club provides gymnastics for all levels and is attracting young people from all over North Lanarkshire.

Julie Graham commented: “The coaches are really pleased with these achievement by the girls at national level. This is a massive accolade for our club.”
