A Newarthill youngster is making a golfing name for himself after landing a number of trophies in his first competitive year at the sport.
Scott Littlejohn (12) has been playing golf at the Colville Park club for a couple of years, but 2014 was his first year of playing competitively.
And he certainly did his chances of following in the professional footsteps of former young Colville Park stars such as Steven and Paul O’Hara and Ross Kellett no harm at all.
The second-year Brannock High pupil managed to send his handicap tumbling from 28 to 18 and won several trophies, including the Colville Park Boys’ Open in July with a nett score of 65.
Scott represented Colville Park at the North Lanarkshire Council ‘Junior Ryder Cup’ in August at Lochview in Coatbridge.
In September he won the McCubbin Shield, a trophy played for throughout the season, and added to his haul the Potter Trophy, one of the oldest junior trophies. He was also runner-up in the boys’ doubles.
