Commonwealth Games silver medallist Kirsty Gilmour has been handed a tough challenge in the draw for the Li-Ning BWF World Championships.

The Bothwell player faces a tricky start against German Karin Schnaase in the Ballerup Super Arena in Copenhagen when the seven-day Championships get under way on August 25.

The two players are 1-1 in head to heads, but if Gilmour overcomes that hurdle the 20-year-old will have to take on Korean sixth seed Bae Yeon Ju.

Gilmour missed out on being seeded at the event by just one world ranking place.
