Holytown MMA fighter Chris Bungard is aiming to make it four first round victories out of four in front of a ‘home’ crowd on Saturday.

The lightweight kept his unbeaten professional record with a victory over Scott Mulgrew in Larbert in July and now takes on Englishman Scott Richards at Hamilton Town House.

Bungard said: “Mulgrew had beaten me as a amateur a few years ago, but this time I dominated him and it was good to show just how far I’ve improved since then.

“Richards is a Muay Thai fighter, I’ve seen one of his bouts and he’s okay, but he doesn’t scare me.

“At this stage I maybe could do with going up against someone who gives me more cause for concern, but it won’t be him.

“I have stopped my last three opponents in the first round and I know it will be no different here.”

Despite the short turnaround between fights, Bungard says he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to compete for First Fighting Championship in Lanarkshire.

He said: “I had actually gone away on holiday to Ibiza for a rest after the Mulgrew fight and when I got back I learned the card in Hamilton could be booked.

“I was straight back in the gym and they managed to find me an opponent which I was pleased about as there was no way I was going to miss the home show.

“I always have great support and I’m pleased this time they don’t have to travel far.”
