Motherwell teenager Alex Dunn is hoping to be a Euro star when he takes part in the European Junior under-17 championships which get under way tomorrow (Thursday).
The Dalziel High School pupil is part of a strong Scottish squad taking part in both team and individual events in the Polish city of Lubin.
It’s a venue which will bring back happy memories for Dunn who won his first international title there earlier this year, teaming up with Mauchline’s Adam Hall to lift the boys’ doubles at the Polish Junior Championships in January.
Dunn will play in both the singles and the doubles, again with Hall.
However the singles draw hasn’t been kind as, after receiving a first round bye, he will face Danish number five seed Anders Antonsen.
In the boys’ doubles Dunn and Hall are joint fifth seeds and will start their bid for glory against Greek pair Panagiotis Botelis and Asimakis Vlahopoulos.
The individual events will run from Tuesday, March 31, until Saturay, April 4, and will be preceded by the team event which takes place from tomorrow until Mondday.
Scotland have been drawn in Group Four where they will face joint third seeds France, Slovenia and an opening contest with Bulgaria.
