As a man with a perfect cup final record as a player, Motherwell boss Mark McGhee is hoping to continue that glorious run with the Steelmen this season.
McGhee (58) won five cup finals out of five in his days playing for with Aberdeen and Celtic and would love to sample that experience as ’Well boss in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden next May.
“The Scottish Cup is really important to me,” McGhee said.
“Winning five out of five finals provided the best memories for me.
“I don’t imagine there would be anything better as a manager than leading my team out in a cup final.
“It is possible because other provincial teams have done it.”
’Well have been handed a home draw against Highland League high flyers Cove Rangers in round four on January 9.
“We will give Cove Rangers every respect and due diligence,” McGhee said.
“You can’t imagine that we will just turn up and win.
“We will approach it like any other game and we need to be tuned in.
“It is such a big competition for us that we can’t afford to be slipping up.
“If we play the way we can then we should win.”
