The 13-year-old Netherton lad, who boxes at 60kg, was part of the Scottish select team who drew 8-8 against Ireland at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in the first amateur home international of the season.
Ryan is also a member of the boxing club.
Meanwhile, Keir Hardie ABC boxer Aqeel Ahmed won the recent Senior Western District Championships defeating Forgewood’s Adam McKenzie in a closely contested final in the Marriot Hotel, Glasgow.
Aqeel (19), of Motherwell, held off a late charge from McKenzie to win 7-4 on points in an absorbing contest between the local boys in the 49kg light-flyweight division.
Clubmate Lewis Hay was on international duty boxing for Scotland against a Manchester/Liverpool select, beating experienced opponent Ben Beswick comfortably 15-3 on points.
14-year-old Lewis who lives in Cleland is part of Scotland’s Development squad which travels to Middlesbrough on Sunday to face a North East select.
