Kids urged to get sporty

A FREE event which encourages youngsters to become more involved in sport in the run up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will take place at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on Saturday.

The “Games Legacy for Scotland – Big Bash” event, which is part of the Games for Scotland programme, will take place from 6pm to 10pm and is open to those aged eight to 17.

The evening aims to celebrate the run up to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games through competitive sports and fun activities.

Youngsters who attend will get the chance to try athletics, badminton, golf, gymnastics, judo, rugby, wrestling, table tennis, tennis and football.

There will also be a dance off competition, a running demonstration, graffiti artist workshops and dance demonstrations.
