Motherwell are getting ready to host St Mirren at Fir Park on Saturday as the new Scottish Premiership campaign gets underway.
’Well have already been in competitive action in the Europa League second qualifying round against Stjarnan and are now preparing for domestic action.
’Well are sweating on the fitness of Craig Reid, Stevie Hammell, Simon Ramsden , Fraser Kerr and Zaine Francis-Angol, but captain Keith Lasley says they will be ready.
He said: “There has been a couple of injuries in the squad, but hopefully come Saturday they won’t be a factor.
“I’m not saying we will be at 100 per cent, and we know St Mirren will present a tough challenge, but we’re raring to go.”
On Saturday ’Well lost 3-0 in a closed doors game against Spanish side Real Betis. The date was previously earmarked for Lasley’s testimonial game, but he is happy to wait.
He said: “It is unfortunate that playing the testimonial game never worked out this summer, but there were issues with the Commonwealth Games being on that were out of our control.
“Hopefully something can get sorted down the road, but for now I’ll just put it to the back of my mind until the time comes and concentrate on the upcoming league campaign.”
