Junior sides Bellshill Athletic and Thorniewood United take a break from league action this week when they face away cup ties.

Bellshill have a tough task when they travel to face Super League Premier Division side Petershill in the first round of the Euroscot Engineering Central League Cup.

Thorniewood, on the other hand, will be more confident of progress when they meet Central League First Division outfit Benburb in a second round encounter.

Both sides were hit by the weather last week with Thorniewood’s Super League First Division match at Beith and Bellshill’s clash at Cambuslang rained off.

Although Central First Division table toppers Bellshill will be undedogs for their game at Petershill, currently fourth in the Super league standings , they go into the match knowing they have already beaten the Glasgow side this season, winning their Sectional League Cup clash 3-2 back in August.

The Bellshill Supporters’ Club bus will leave The Orb at 12.30pm.

To book seats phone Alex Conner on 07729 378818.

Thorniewood should be confident of progressing at the expense of a Benburb side who are sixth in the Central First Division table.

However the Viewpark side will be conscious that they have already suffered two cup exits at the hands of Central League sides this season, going down to First Division side Neilston in the New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup and Second Division outfit St Roch’s in the Scottish Junior Cup.

Both Saturday’s games kick-off at 1.45pm.
