It’s Scottish Cup time for Bellshill Athletic and Thorniewood United on Saturday with both sides facing home ties against East Region opposition.

And Bellshill moved three points clear at the top of the Central First Division table with a last gasp win over closest rivals Lesmahagow.

Like Thorniewood, Broughty play in their region’s second tier and are currently 13th in the 16-team East Premier Division table.

Both Broughty and Thorniewood received byes in the first round. In the second round Thorniewood thumped Kirriemuir 6-1 at Robertson Park while Broughty were 2-1 home winners over Stonehaven.

High flying Bellshill also take on a side at the top of their region’s third tier, Downfield currently sitting on top of the North Divisision standings.

Downfield beat Vale of Leven 2-0 and Lochee Harp 1-0, both at home, to reach the third round while Bellshill got a first round bye before winning 5-2 at Grantown last time out.

Both Saturday’s games kick off at 1.45pm.
