Thorniewood grabbed a relegation lifeline on Monday night ahead of their crunch clash with Ashfield at Robertson Park on Wednesday.
The Viewpark side defeated basement boys Lesmahagow 3-1 at Stonehouse to leave them two points ahead of Ashfield with each side having two games left.
With Lesmahagow and Renfrew already down, and Kilwinning favourites to join them, the fourth and final relegation place is likely to be between Thorniewood and Ashfield.
United are currently two points ahead of the Glasgow outfit and Wednesday’s game offers them the chance to put themselves out of reach.
Meanwhile Bellshill - bidding to move up to the Super League from Central Division One - ended a run of eight games without a win by hammering Maryhill 5-1 on Saturday.
However the revival may have come too late as Athletic remain fifth in the table with just two teams to go up.
Bellshill are also in action on Wednesday night, against St Anthony’s at Fullarton Park.
