Motherwell defender Craig Reid enjoyed an excellent 2014 at Fir Park and is determined to ensure the new year is just as good.
Reid arrived in February and made the right-back slot his own as ’Well finished second, Reid scoring a last minute winner on the last day at Pittodrie to secure the position.
A reward of two-year contract followed as well as a return to playing in Europe for the first time in five years.
He said: “This time last year I was without a club, but 2014 became a very good year for me personally.
“I took my chance to get in the first team here and was able to hold my place as we enjoyed a brilliant finish to the season.
“I was looking to kick on again this season, but right now the team isn’t where we want to be and are trying to improve that.”
’Well have started 2015 with defeats to Hamilton Accies and Aberdeen and Reid called for unity to move them away from the relegation zone, with their next stop being Dundee on Saturday.
He said: “After losing 5-0 to Accies we needed a reaction against Aberdeen and I thought we got it, but obviously not the result we were looking for.
“It was always going to be a hard game with Aberdeen at the top of the table, but it was encouraging with the battling display we put on and hopefully can play like that and stick together to climb the table.
Dundee have been winless for six matches since beating Aberdeen in November.
Reid said: “Like us Dundee haven’t been in the best of form, but Dens Park is always a difficult place to go and we need to pick up points so will need to be on our game.”
