Motherwell FC are appealing the controversial first half red card dished out to Cedric Kipre by referee Craig Thomson during Sunday's 0-0 home draw against Celtic.

Kipre was shown a straight red by under fire Thomson - who has now dismissed four Motherwell players (including Kipre, twice) this season - after 41 minutes of the match following an innocuous coming together with Celtic captain Scott Brown who escaped unpunished.

A statement on the Motherwell FC website reads: "The club believes this is a case of wrongful dismissal and, having submitted a Player Reference to the Scottish FA on behalf of the player, the matter will now go to a fast track tribunal.

"The principal hearing will take place on Thursday, 22 March 2018."
