By recent standards, Motherwell were poor in the match and Robinson was pulling no punches after the loss at the Superseal Stadium.“We’re a team that wins second balls and plays on the front foot,” Robbo said.“All of a sudden if you think you’re better than what you are, football has a funny way of kicking you in the teeth.“That’s what happened today.“It’s especially disappointing for the number of fans that turned up in the pouring rain.“I think three quarters of them left before the end and I wanted to join them to be honest with you.“That’s not the team that we’ve come to know, it’s not the team that the fans have come to know.“I’ll make sure they’re back again on Tuesday morning, remembering what’s got them the relative success that they’ve had this season.”Motherwell could have closed within one point of sixth placed Hearts with a win at Accies, but it never looked likely.Robbo said that Hearts’ 2-0 defeat to Hibs on Friday night had been the motivation his side needed, but he felt that Hamilton had competed better than ’Well, which was “very unlike” his players.“It was an extremely disappointing afternoon,” Robinson added.“We were chasing the game right from the start. We gave away a sloppy goal from a setplay that we warned them about – second phases.“Their delivery from setplays all day was much better than ours.“I think we made their keeper make a save in the 93rd minute so it probably rounded off our threat in the final third.“We tried to make positive changes to try and change the game but it didn’t work.“I just felt today we looked like a team that’s had a lot of plaudits and didn’t do the basic things well.”
