Louis Moult describes himself as a “clever player” and says he would have been “stupid” to turn down a move to Motherwell.
The Fir Park club splashed out on the Wrexham striker last week after scoring 33 goals in the Conference Premier in the last two seasons.
Moult said: “The Conference is a competitive league, but I think the standard up here is much better and I’m really excited.
“I signed a new deal at Wrexham just after Christmas and I was really happy there, but when an opportunity like this came along I would be stupid to turn it down, not just for myself, but for my family too.
“I have signed a three-year deal, which is the longest of my career, I have enjoyed good one-year stints at the likes of Wrexham and Nuneton, but hopefully I can get settled and score as many goals as possible.
“I was actually surprised to be offered three years, but now I have to repay the manager for believing in me and bringing me to this club and that’s what I am going to do.”
Despite regularly finding the net Moult says he isn’t just a poacher.
He said: “I think there is a bit more to my game than just scoring goals.
“I’m a clever player, I like to link up the play and should link up well with the likes of Marvin Johnson and Lionel Ainsworth, I play with a lot of passion, by working hard I’ll become a better player.
“When I started at Stoke everything was handed to you, but I dropped down the league to the point I was working part-time as a painter while at Nuneton and I think that sort of experience makes you as a person.”
